The Harvard Crimson and Princeton Tigers meet up in a high-profile Ivy League matchup Friday
The Harvard Crimson and Princeton Tigers meet up in a high-profile Ivy League matchup Friday

Princeton has won three of its last four games, but two of those victories have come against non-lined opponents, including a 84-54 win over Kean University Sunday.  Defense was the difference between last year’s home win and road loss for the Tigers against the Crimson, which is important to consider when making your college basketball predictions Friday night.  Offensively, the squad is on its way to breaking program records for 3-pointers made and attempted this season, but it’ll face a great perimeter defense in this matchup.  Princeton is 0-4 SU and 3-1 ATS as road underdogs of 6.5 to 9 points the last two-plus seasons.

The Tigers have made the Harvard-Dartmouth trip annually since 1958—sweeping the trip 33 times, splitting the trip 19 times, and being swept four times.  Princeton and Harvard are the top two scoring teams in the Ivy League, while they also possess the two best turnover margins.  Entering the week, the team leads the country in fewest total turnovers and fewest fouls committed.

Harvard has alternated wins and losses over its last five games, as it looks to build off a 80-50 blowout victory over Dartmouth as 12-point road favorites Sunday, while going OVER the betting total for the first time in six opportunities.  The Crimson will be putting their 17-game home winning streak on the line, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college basketball odds page.  The team’s 15-3 SU record is the third best start in program history.  Harvard is 5-0 SU and 2-3 ATS as home favorites of 6.5 to 9 points since the start of the 2011-12 campaign.

The Crimson rely heavily on playing great defense under head coach Tommy Amaker, as they’ve limited opponents to 60.4 points per game this season.  Harvard is 7-0 SU this season when holding opponents to fewer than 60 points and has captured all seven contests when limited foes to under 40 percent shooting from the field.

Sports bettors will likely back the Crimson due to the home team covering six of the last eight meetings in this series.
