Michigan State had its 11-game winning streak snapped last Saturday, as it dropped a 80-75 decision to the Michigan Wolverines as five-point home favorites, while going OVER the betting total of 137.  The Spartans committed a season-low five turnovers in that affair, which is important to consider when making your college basketball predictions Tuesday night.  Offensively, the team is led by guard Gary Harris, who has tallied 20-plus points in seven contests during the 2013-14 campaign.  Michigan State is 8-3 ATS in its last 11 games overall.

The Spartans have won all three of their games decided by four or fewer points, but they’ll be playing without the services of Branden Dawson and Adreian Payne, who are out with hand and foot injuries respectively.  Michigan State ranks first in the Big Ten Conference in assists per game, which has led directly to averaging 79.7 points a contest.  Point guard Keith Appling will need to be masterful to pull off the upset—entering third in the league with a 2.5 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Iowa is 4-1 SUATS over its last five games, as it comes off a 76-50 victory over the Northwestern Wildcats as 9.5-point road favorites last Saturday, while going UNDER the betting total for a second consecutive contest.  The Hawkeyes are the only team in the league with an undefeated home record, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college basketball odds page.   Two probable starters are averaging double figures, with senior guard Roy Devyn Marble leading the way at 16.1 points a contest.  Iowa is 37-14 ATS in its last 51 home games.

The Hawkeyes have dropped 11 of their last 12 meetings against the Michigan State Spartans, including both last year by a 3-point margin.  All four of Iowa’s losses have come by eight or fewer points to ranked teams, while it tries to tie a Carver-Hawkeye Arena record with 21 consecutive wins at the venue.  It’s important to handicap the fact that the squad’s bench is averaging 34.7 points and 21 rebounds per game.

Sports bettors will likely play the total, as the OVER is 8-3 in the Hawkeyes’ last 11 home games.
