The Georgetown Hoyas haven’t played since Dec. 22

Georgetown has won seven consecutive games since suffering its only loss of the season to the Indiana Hoosiers on Nov. 20, which includes a 65-48 victory over American on Dec. 22.  The Hoyas were led by the play of forward Otto Porter, who is averaging 16.7 points and 9.7 rebounds over his last three games.  “I think that Otto is the best or one of the best at so many different facets of this game in the country,” stated Hoyas coach John Thompson III.  Georgetown is 2-1 ATS when playing with seven or more days rest over the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 3-0 in that situation.

The Hoyas have limited opponents to under 60 points in eight of their 10 games this season, allowing just 54.7 points per game, which ranks second in the Big East Conference and ninth nationally.  Georgetown’s starters have accounted for 78 percent of the team’s scoring this season.  The program has gone 7-1 in conference openers with Thompson III on the sidelines, while also going 6-2 when playing their first league away game.

Marquette has won three games in a row, including an exciting 82-76 overtime victory over the Connecticut Huskies as five-point home favorites, while going OVER the posted total of 133.5.  “I’m just ecstatic because I feel like we’ve turned a corner into who we are with this team,” stated Golden Eagles assistant coach Brad Autry.  The Golden Eagles have won their last 17 games at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, which is tied for the sixth-longest active streak in the nation.  Marquette is 15-5 ATS in January the last two-plus seasons, with the OVER going 11-9 in that situation.

The Golden Eagles won all nine of their league games at home last season, as they’ll look to continue that success with a strong bench, which is averaging 32.1 points per game.  Marquette’s bench accounts for 45 percent of the team’s total offensive production.  It’s important to note that the program has faced a ranked Georgetown team in each of its five home games in this series—picking up victories in two of those games as an unranked team.

Sports bettors will likely play the total in this affair, as the OVER is 4-0 when the Hoyas are road underdogs of three points or less.
