Texas features five players in double-figure scoring averages entering Wednesday’s contest, with all 10 scholarship players scoring 10 or more points in at least one of the team’s first 10 contests.  The Longhorns have received tremendous production from junior forward Jonathan Holmes, who is scoring 12.9 points and grabbing 6.8 rebounds a contest.  The program holds a 5-3 SU lead in this series, which is important to consider when making your college basketball betting picks Wednesday night.  Texas is 0-5 SU and 3-2 ATS as road underdogs of 9.5 to 12 points the last two-plus seasons.

The Longhorns have compiled a 58-82 SU record against ranked teams under longtime head coach Rick Barnes, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college basketball betting lines.  Texas has out-rebounded nine of its first 10 opponents, while it ranks 13th nationally with a +9.7 rebounding margin.  On the defensive end, the team has held seven of its first 10 foes to under 40 percent shooting from the field, as one of the team’s strengths is protecting the rim.

North Carolina will welcome an old rival back to the Smith Center, as it looks to build on its current three-game winning streak, which includes an 82-77 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats as three-point home favorites last weekend.  The Tar Heels will be out to avenge a disappointing 85-67 defeat to the Longhorns in Austin last year, as they shot just 31.3 percent from the floor.  North Carolina is 5-0 SUATS as home favorites of 9.5 to 12 points the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 4-1 in that situation.

The Tar Heels continue to impress on the floor despite missing a few key players, including last year’s top scorer P.J. Hairston, who is out due to NCAA eligibility concerns.  North Carolina is getting tremendous production out of point guard Marcus Paige, who is averaging 19.2 points per game, while James Michael McAdoo checks in at 13.8 points a contest.

Sports bettors will likely back the Tar Heels due to their 10-4 ATS mark in their last 14 home games.
