The Michigan Wolverines are averaging 81.2 points per game this season

NC State will be seeking to snap a four-game skid in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, as the program is 5-7 all-time in this event overall.  The Wolfpack have lost their two opportunities of playing a ranked foe in this setting, but they haven’t played very good basketball in splitting their last two contests.  “We’ve got to be better,” commented Wolfpack coach Mark Gottfried.  “We’ve got to develop a team spirit.”  It’s important to note that the program is 2-9 in road openers since the 2001-02 campaign.  NC State is 0-2 ATS as a road underdog of 6.5 to 9 points over the last two-plus seasons, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college basketball betting odds on Tuesday.

The Wolfpack have lost nine of their last 10 games against ranked opponents, while they haven’t beaten a non-conference foe in this situation since Dec. 30, 2005.  NC State has outscored its opposition 200-149 in the paint, while the team is shooting 49.8 percent on the season and allowing opponents to hit just 43.1 percent of their shots from the floor.

Michigan will unveil its 2012 Big Ten Conference regular season championship banner in a pregame ceremony before this matchup, as it looks to improve to 6-0 on the year.  The Wolverines are coming off an impressive 71-57 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats as 5.5-point neutral-site favorites on Friday.  The program is 4-7 all-time in this event, while it has gone 2-2 ATS versus ACC foes over the last two-plus campaigns.  Michigan is 17-8 ATS in non-conference action, with the OVER going 13-10 in that situation.

The Wolverines have one of the more dynamic backcourts in the nation, with Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. combining to average 34.6 points per game this season.  Michigan is 2-3 all-time at home when playing in this event, while head coach John Beilein has dropped four of his five chances in this situation.  Offensively, the team is averaging 81.2 points per game, while winning its first five games by an average of 24.8 points per game.

Sports bettors will likely back the Wolverines due to their 22-10 ATS mark at home, while the Wolfpack are 1-4 ATS versus Big Ten opponents.
