The Xavier Musketeers are 5-0 all-time against the Vanderbilt Commodores

Vanderbilt has lost four of its last five games, as it looks to bounce back from a 62-52 setback to Villanova as 1.5-point home favorites, while going UNDER the total in its last three opportunities.  The Commodores are going to be hard-pressed to win 20 games this season, something the program has done in seven of the last nine years.  The team’s 25 wins in 2011-12 was the most since the 2007-08 campaign.  Vanderbilt is 15-6 ATS on the road over the last two-plus seasons, which can’t be ignored when making your college basketball picks against the spread on Tuesday.

The Commodores are led offensively by sophomore guard Kedren Johnson, who has gone for double figures in five of six games this season.  Vanderbilt will be out for revenge from last year’s 82-70 overtime loss to Xavier as four-point home favorites, especially since it has gone 4-2 ATS as a road underdog of 6.5 to 12 points since 2010.

Xavier won its third straight game with a 63-57 victory over Purdue as 6.5-point road underdogs, while going UNDER the posted total of 133.5.  The Musketeers have won nine of their last 10 games against SEC opponents, with those victories coming against five different teams.  The program is 3-1 ATS versus such foes over the last two-plus seasons, while it has won all five prior meetings in this series.  Xavier is 3-10 ATS in December since 2010, which is important to consider when looking over the college basketball odds page.

The Musketeers have no starters and only five letterwinners back from last season’s Sweet 16 team, but they do have a trio of seniors that are combining to average 26.9 points and 12.0 rebounds per game.  Xavier is also getting solid production out of sophomore Dee Davis, who is second on the team in scoring 13.0 points and dishing out 4.0 assists per game.

Sports bettors will likely back the Commodores due to their 6-2 ATS mark versus Atlantic 10 foes, while the Musketeers are 0-4-1 ATS at home versus teams with a losing road record.
