Oregon St is a 5 point favorite against Arizona St Thursday night in Corvallis.

The 13-2 Arizona St Sun Devils travel to the 10-4 Oregon St Beavers Thursday night. The Sun Devils are 2-0 in the Pac 12 with home wins over Utah 55-54 in overtime, and against Colorado 65-56 on Sunday. Oregon St is 0-1 in conference with a home loss to Oregon Sunday night 79-66.

The series is tied at 39-39 between Oregon St and Arizona St, but Oregon St is 22-13 in Corvallis. Arizona St has won 8 of the last 9 games in the series, including 76-66 last season in Tempe in the only meeting between the schools. This is the only scheduled meeting between the teams unless they meet in the Pac 12 tournament.

Arizona St is coached by Herb Sendek. The Sun Devils  have losses to Creighton in a tournament in Las Vegas, and home to DePaul. The Sun Devils have won 5 straight games since the DePaul loss. ASU has key wins over Arkansas in Las Vegas, Cornell, and Texas Tech. Arizona St is 6-4 ATS and the total is 0-2 this season.

Oregon St has key wins over New Mexico St, Purdue in New York, and San Diego in Las Vegas. Oregon St is 4-6 ATS and all five games with a posted total have gone under.

Oregon St is outscoring teams 77-69 this season. The Beavers are #38 in scoring nationally. Oregon St is shooting 46.9% from the field and  39.5% from 3 point range. The Beavers are #39 in field goal percentage and #18 in 3 point shooting. Oregon St makes 65.7% of their free throws. Olaf Schaftenaar, Jarmal Reid, and Challe Barton make up the rest of the rotation. Forward Daniel Gomis is also out for the season with a leg injury. He has not played in a game this season.

Arizona St is 5-2 ATS overall, 9-22 after a straight up win, 7-18-1 after a cover, 8-21 in road games, 5-14-2 in Thursday games, 3-13 in road games against teams with winning home records, and 1-5 in road games after 3 or more straight home games. The Sun Devils are 7-2 ATS in the last 9 against the Beavers. Four of the last five in the series have gone over the total.

Oregon St is 4-1 ATS after failing to cover, 5-2 after a double digit home loss, 2-5 after a straight up loss, and 3-9 against Pac 12 teams, 1-5 in Thursday games, 0-5 at home, and overall. The favorite is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 in this series.

These two teams are evenly matched. I think Arizona St might be slightly better, but Corvallis is a long trip from Tempe and is a very tough place to play. Both these teams are comfortable playing in the 70’s so it could be an up-temp affair. I like Oregon St to win a close game.
