In pre-season writings, everyone agreed that the NBA Atlantic Division was the weakest in the league. But not as weak as this—there is not one club in the division with a winning record. In fact, there is not one team that’s even close to having a positive mark. (more…)

The NCAA basketball conference games are just starting to be played with most teams having accumulated a number of non-conference wins and loses. If you check out the 16- team Big East standings, you see a strange site—West Virginia on top of the conference at 1- 0 in the Big East and 11- 1 overall and Connecticut at the bottom at 0- 1 in the BE and 11- 1 overall. Sure it’s just the beginning, but it’s also an indication of things to come. (more…)

It is the Big East game of the season– #13 Rutgers (10-1, 5- 1 Big East) versus #15 West Virginia (9- 2, 4- 2 Big East). What’s at stake is a BCS Bowl bid. If Rutgers wins they will go to either the Orange, Sugar or Rose Bowl. That’s all that there is to it. Even if #6 Louisville (10- 1, 5- 1 Big East) beats Connecticut (4- 7, 1- 5 Big East) on Saturday, which they should, the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers will still win the Big East title by virtue of their win over Louisville 28- 25 on November 9th.

If you’re looking at tonight’s big game as Brady Vs. Manning, then you’ve bought into the hype of the moment. First, there is no Brady Vs. Manning contest, unless you think that regular season stats equal greatness. Most years, except last, Manning has outmatched Brady in the stat area. But who went to the Super Bowl and won it? Last season, neither did. In previous years, only Brady has gone to the big game and won all three of them. To me the case is closed—Brady is superior. He manages to rise into the occasion more often than not in the big game and put his team into a position to win.
