J.T. Barrett seems to have settled the QB controversy over Cardale Jones after a 28-3 win over Illinois last week. The Buckeyes are 13-point favorites as it hosts Michigan State Saturday afternoon at 2:30 CT on ABC.

Ezekiel Elliott has been OSU’s most consistent source of offense, and he now has 15-straight games of 100-plus yards. He had 181 yards and two TDs last week while Barrett threw for 150 yards and rushed for 74. The Buckeyes led 14-3 at the half, and its run defense held Illinois to just 20 rushing yards.

Urban Meyer, ever unsatisfied, said “This is not a perfect team, I’ve never seen a perfect team…we’ve got a long way to go, there are certain area we’re not playing very good.”

Even so, the Buckeyes have won 30 straight regular season games since Meyer became coach in 2012, but the Spartans gave Ohio State a 32-24 loss in the 2013 conference title game. Last year, the Buckeyes beat the Spartans 49-37 at East Lansing, and Meyer called that the best performance of the season.

Spartans QB Connor Cook hurt his shoulder in last week’s 24-7 home win over Maryland. He is going to play and insisted his shoulder would not be a problem. His play is crucial if MSU is to be an upset winner this week. He has thrown 21 TDs and four INTs, but he sat the second half against Maryland after the injury in the first quarter. “I’m going to be ready to go, so there is no issue with that,” Cook said.

His top receiving target Aaron Burbridge has 1,021 yards and six TDs.

MacGarrett Kings Jr. and R.J. Shelton have combined for another 826 yards and eight TDs.

L.J. Scott is doing a good job in the backfield for MSU with 519 yards on 94 carries (5.5 yards per). Scott has a team high nine of 19 total team touchdowns and Gerald Holmes has six TDs and 392 yards on the year. Madre London leads the team in carries with 99 and has 405 yards on the year.
