Barry Zito Shows Some Heart

Great effort by numerous MLB players, led by Barry Zito, is Strikeouts for Troops. Players agree to pledge a certain amount of money per strikeout, home run or RBI to aid injured vets. Players usually pledge $200 per stat. So if a participating player hits two dingers in a game, he’d give $400 towards helping vets who’ve sacrificed for the U.S. Zito puts his money where his arm is and gives $500 per strikeout. You’ll see him before the game recruiting players from other teams for the effort.
