Falcons Packers NFC Playoff Game Preview
The Atlanta Falcons are looking for their first-ever 5-0 start to an NFL season

Atlanta is looking to start a season with a 5-0 record for the first time in franchise history, as it comes off a 30-28 win over the Carolina Panthers as seven-point home favorites.  The Falcons have won and covered their two games outside of the Georgia Dome, including an impressive 27-3 victory over the San Diego Chargers on Sept. 23.  Offensively, the team ranks third in the NFL in averaging 31.0 points per game, with quarterback Matt Ryan throwing for 1,162 yards and 11 touchdowns.  Atlanta is 8-4 ATS as a road favorite over the last two-plus seasons, with the OVER going 7-5 in that situation.

The Falcons will need to play great at the line of scrimmage defensively, as they go against the top rushing attack in the league.  Atlanta’s run defense allowed Carolina 199 yards on the ground last week and opponents are averaging 146 yards per game for the season.  Ryan should have another great day under center, going against a secondary that ranks 31st in the league in surrendering 326 passing yards per game.

Washington evened its record through four games with a 24-22 come-from-behind victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as 1.5-point road underdogs, while going OVER the total for a fourth consecutive week.  Robert Griffin III is on pace to become the first NFL quarterback to run for 1,000 yards in a season, but sports bettors shouldn’t overlook Alfred Morris, who ranks fifth in the league with 376 rushing yards at running back.  Washington is 2-6 ATS after a road win the last two-plus seasons.

The Redskins are averaging an eye-catching 30.8 points per game, as Griffin III has been fantastic under center, entering with a 103.2 passer rating.  Washington will need to try and slow Atlanta’s passing attack, while also worrying about Michael Turner, who ran for 166 yards and two scores in the last meeting between these two NFC teams.  Dating back to Week 17 of last season, the Redskins have had a positive turnover margin in five consecutive games.

Sports bettors will likely back the Redskins due to their 4-0 ATS mark in Week 5, while the Falcons are 3-8-1 ATS after allowing 350 or more yards in a game.
