Well, things continue to be interesting in the Senior Circuit and one place is in the NL East as the Braves continue to put pressure on the division leading Mets. The Mets have three wins in their last 10 games, while the Braves have won six of their last ten. That means that Atlanta has gained three games over the past ten!

Okay, we know that the Indianapolis Colts will pay for offense and now we know that they will award great “D� also. Defensive end and franchise player Dwight Freeney has inked a $72 million contract that includes a $30 million signing bonus! Holy Cow!

Okay, here’s the skinny (sorry for the pun Charlie Weiss). Weiss underwent gastric bypass surgery when he was with the New England Patriots and almost died after surgery. He took his doctors to court, claiming that they had messed up post-op care. But the trial ended up in a hung jury and Weiss, with no settlement in site, has decided to pursue the doctors once again. The AL continued their winning streak in the All-Star game. It now stretches through a full decade! The NL almost took the game in the bottom of the ninth as they battled back from a three-run deficit. decade! The final score was 5- 4 with Boston’s Josh Beckett getting the win. (more…)

Clearly the Indianapolis Colts have a passing game with one of the best QBs in the pros, Peyton Manning, calling the signals and throwing the ball. Manning has simple gotten better and better each season and last year he led the team, after numerous failed tries, to the championship. (more…)

The Boston Red Sox (53- 31) have a 12-game lead over second-place Toronto and New York, a 16-game lead over Baltimore and a 20-game lead over Tampa Bay. The guys from Beantown have the highest winning percentage in MLB– .631. They have scored 426 runs, which ties them for fourth in the AL. In runs allowed, they are first in the AL 328 and second in the majors. Only the San Diego Padres have allowed fewer—281.

The 2006 football season was much different for Pittsburgh Steelers’ QB Ben Roethlisberger than the 2005 season had been. In 2005, the Steeler QB led his team to their first championship in 26 years. In 2006, they could not get into the playoffs.

That’s what I’m wondering? The longest winning streak presently is Florida, which won one game. Everyone one else is on a backwards tear with the first-place Mets and second-place Atlanta battling to give it all up as both stand with three game losing streaks. Over the past ten, NY is 6- 4 (the best in the East) and the Braves are 5-5 and 4 games back. (more…)
