NFL – Tank Johnson Jettisoned

The Chicago Bears have had enough and waived Tank Johnson after the defensive tackle was pulled over by Phoenix police who found him to be speeding and “DUI Impaired to the Slightest Degree.â€? Johnson had spent two months in jail on a gun charge and has been in trouble with the law numerous other times. (more…)

NBA – “Chauncey Billups” Worth More than $6.8 million

Detroit point guard, Chauncey Billups has exercised the opt out clause in his contract, which means he has terminated his contract with the Pistons a year early. This year, Billups played in 70 games, averaging 17.0 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 7.2 APG and 1.2 SPG. He shot 43% from the floor, 35% from downtown and 88% from the free throw line. The 30 year old has played 10 seasons in the NBA, playing for Boston, Toronto, Denver, Minnesota and Detroit. He’s been a member of the Pistons since the 2002- 2003 season. (more…)

NFL – Strong Safety Donovin Darius May Suit Up

When strong safety Donovin Darius was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars on June 14, no one was more surprised than the nine-year veteran. Darius, 31, has been rehabbing a broken ankle, which kept him out of 10 games and out of spring workouts.

NFL – Whatever Happened to Dan Marino?

Ever since Dan Marino retired, the Miami Dolphins have been in search of a high-quality replacement. Of course, it’s tough to find the next, young QB who’s going to turn things around. Often first round QBs don’t work out. Other times late picks or guys who aren’t picked—Tom Brady and Kurt Warner respectively—lead teams to Super Bowls and league championships. (more…)

NASCAR – Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson Caught; No Real Penalty

While inspecting cars for the Toyota/Save Mart 350, officials caught Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson with illegal body modifications designed to give each of their cars an edge. The inspections happened on Friday morning. Neither was allowed to practice on Friday, but both were allowed to hit the track on Saturday.

MLB – Can Atlanta be Brave?

The Atlanta Braves had been shut out three straight and there’s disharmony in the clubhouse as reported by ESPN.com. It seems that pitcher John Smoltz, one of the victims of the three-game streak when his team lost to Detroit’s Kenny Rogers 0-5, put pressure on Chipper Jones to get back into the lineup. (more…)

MLB– Kenny Rogers First Start of 2007 Tonight Versus Atlanta

Kenny Rogers, who has been on the DL since the start of the season when he had to have a blood clot removed from his shoulder, is scheduled to make his first start of 2007 as the Tigers travel to Atlanta to play the Braves. The last time that Rogers was in Atlanta, he was in the 1999 NLCS (Oct 19, 1999) pitching in game six. He walked in Andruw Jones and the Braves won the pennant. (more…)

MLB – The NL West is the Best, while the East is a Beast

There’s a race on in the NL West, where the top four teams are separated by five games or less. The other close race is in the NL East, where the top four clubs are separated by 4.5 runs or less. The AL Central has Cleveland and Detroit neck and neck and Minnesota 5.5 games out in third place. But the two ML divisions have the most competition within striking distance. (more…)
