When Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth’s all-time homerun mark, there were some who certainly begrudged him that accomplishment. He was threatened because he was Black. Racism will always exist, unfortunately, but the vast majority saw and knew that Aaron was simply an amazing athlete who broke that homerun record fair and square. (more…)
Slugger Frank Thomas smacked his 500th homer today before being tossed in the ninth for arguing balls and strikes. 500 is quite a milestone. Or is it?
ESPN.com reports that the Portland Trailblazers will choose Greg Oden first in this year’s NBA draft. The choice was between Ohio State freshman star center Oden and freshman small forward Kevin Durant from the Texas Longhorns. Durant won just about every college award possible prior to declaring for the draft.
It’s a no-brainer. The Dallas Cowboys, who tend to look at talent and not character, are interested in Tank Johnson. Johnson, who was released by the Bears a few days ago after yet another run-in with the law, is a young defensive tackle with good moves, energy and quickness. Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson have each been docked 100 points off their Nextel Cup Series standings. The penalties were assessed for violations related to vehicle alterations discovered last Friday. (more…)
Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett and Gilbert Arenas are just three of over a dozen quality NBA players who will be free agents next year. Teams looking to make a power move towards the championship may want to clear out some salary cap room. Many of these guys—most—don’t come cheap. With the Chicago Bears waiving defensive tackle Tank Johnson what will Lovie Smith do to bolster the team’s defense? In three years and 46 games with the Bears, Johnson had 63 tackles, 52 solo and 9 sacks. (more…)

This is a little late but this is the first time I had the time to sit down and watch the House Financial Services Committee hearing chaired by Congressman Barney Frank on the repeal of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act which took place on Friday, June 8th.
