Position Needs for Arizona
Offensive Tackle: Another draft report for the Cardinals and as usual Offensive tackle is on the need list. Leonard Davis is gone (Oakland) and Oliver Ross has been anything but impressive.
Linebacker: Besides Gerald Hayes, this unit as a whole has underachived. At the time of publish Orlando Huff is a free agent, as is his backup James Darling. Dansby and Blackstock both have the talent but havent lived up to expectations as of yet.
Cornerback: Roderick Hood (Philadelphia) was a good sign in free agency, but a shut down corner is needed. Antrel Rolle and Eric Green had been looked upon to be starters but have not lived up to the hype. Continually getting beat deep, this team needs to use to draft to help this flaw at the position.
Draft Outlook for the Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals have last 4 drafs have been excellent. The 2006 draft class produced quality picks like Matt Leinart and Deuce Lutui. The 2005 & 2004 & 2003 classes were also very good producing a number of starters and backups, although this hasn't resulted in playoff losses.
If Wisconsin's Joe Thomas is there at number 5, expect the Cards to snatch him up. This is Arizona's biggest need this draft and arguably Thomas is one of the best talents in the class and is the best O-Lineman on the board. If he is not there, expect the Cardinals to trade down and go after a couple pressing needs in the first round depending on the number of draft picks they aquire. In round 2 a tackle like Central Michigan's Joe Staley (if they can't get Thomas in the first round) or Tanard Jackson from Syracuse would be a solid selection.
