Although Gonzaga went into the locker room at halftime with a 5-point lead, they finished game with a 6-point deficit as the 10th seed Davidson Wildcats took it to the Bulldogs 82- 76 locking up a second round appearance and a against the spread college basketball pick for Maddux Sports client base.

In the game, Davidson guard Sean Curry was huge, hitting for 40 points. Point guard Jason Richards contributed 9 assists, while throwing in 15 points. Under the boards, forward Andrew Lovedale amassed 13 rebounds (7.5 more than his average). The Wildcats sank 50% of their threes and converted 71% of their foul shots. They went to the charity stripe 21 times and hit 15, while the Zags visited the line 14 times, sinking 8. Davidson extended their nation-leading winning streak to 23 games. A concern for the Wildcats was their inability to guard against Gonzaga’s lethal three-pointers.

With 7:50 left in the first-half, Georgetown started to but distance between themselves and UMBC. At the half, it was 34- 22. The final score was the Hoyas 66 and the Retrievers 47.

Georgetown converted 51% from the floor and 35% from downtown. Off the bench, guard Chris Wright went 2 for 2 from beyond the arc, putting in a total of 8 points. The Hoyas dominated the boards, with center Roy Hibbert pulling down 7, forward DaJuan Summers taking in 5 and guard Jonathan Wallace grabbing 6. Hibbert and Wallace had 13 points apiece. The one mark against the Hoyas was their ball handing, as Georgetown had the ball stolen 12 times and turned it over 15.

Davidson hit threes but could not stop their opponents in that area. Georgetown could take advantage of that, along with the Wildcats’ weak rebounding. The Hoyas must be more careful with the ball. Davidson’s guards have sneaky, quick hands and will make Georgetown pay for any mistakes. It would not shock us to see Curry's cats pull off the upset and make it to the sweet 16.
