Line From Bookmaker: Butler -1.5
The Butler Bulldogs (27- 6, 13- 3 HOR) won the regular season title but lost to Wright State in the Horizon tournament by a score of 55- 60. Butler has beaten Norte Dame, Gonzaga, Tennessee and Indiana this season. The Old Dominion Monarchs (24- 8, 15- 3 CAA) came in second in their league and were upset by George Mason in the CAA tourney.
For Butler to win, they must slow the game down, play their usual
tenacious defense and make their opponents take fouls. The team
shoots fouls at a rate of 76%! Led by junior guard A.J. Graves
(17.0 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 2.5 APG) and his 96% foul shooting, Butler
can attack on the inside with senior forward Brandon Crone (11.4
PPG, 4.8 RPG, 2.0 APG) and on the outside and inside with junior
guard Mike Green (14.1 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 4.0 APG).
Old Dominion returns to the NCAA with an experienced squad that includes senior forward Valdas Vasylius (15.8 PPG, 6.2 RPG) and senior guard Drew Williamson (11.3 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 4.5 APG). Williamson is a good on-court leader, while Vasylius, as long as he stays in his game, can be a force upfront. Senior forward Arnaud Dahl (9.4 PPG, 6.3 RPG) is a solid inside performer.
Old Dominion could be a spoiler in this contest. But if Butler controls the tempo and the boards, they will win. Look for a close game. Maddux Sports is releasing a premium college basketball pick on this game, signup for this easy point spread winner!
