Some notes about the Maddux Sports Mock draft and the 2006 NFL draft in particular before you scroll down.

First off all these projections could change in any of the teams decide to make a blockbuster deal. With Matt Leinart being a hot commodity for alot of teams, we definitely could see New Orleans being offered a nice package to deal the number 2 pick so a team could sneak up and snag the USC quarterback away from the Titans.

Another issue is the San Francisco 49ers at number 6. We have them slated to take Maryland Tight End Vernon Davis with the 6th pick. To me this makes no sense from the 49ers to even be drafting one player let alone a tight end. Yes Vernon Davis is phenomenal player but San Francisco has so many holes to fill and trading to accumulate and stock pile picks is the right move. Maybe the offers they have received thus far haven't been enough to trade down, but come draft day if the 49ers are sitting at number 6, I feel for you 49er fans. One guy is not going to turn this franchise around overnight. Drafting young blood and lots of it will.

Finally we have the Oakland Raiders drafting Vince Young in our NFL mock draft at number 7. To me this another poor decision. Partly because they need alot of help, but more so because they defense isn't good, and isn't getting better by drafting a QB. Again nothing against Vince Young but trading down to get a few defense studs for the future makes more sense for Al Davis' Raiders.
