There are 2 things that have killed Alabama the last couple years, injuries and losing every single close game they are in. First let us start with the injuries, last season the Crimson Tide lost starting QB Brodie Croyle in the third game of the season, than lost starting running back Ray Hudson and finally full back Kenneth Darby went down against Tennessee later in the year. Injuries are a part of football but when you lose your entire starting backfield, there just isn't too much a team can do to be at an equivalent level with backups compared to the skilled starting unit. The next thing Alabama will have to work on is winning the close games. In the two seasons since Shula took over, the Crimson Tide are 0-9 in games decided by single digits. They will need to make a striking turn around in the tight games, if they expect to challenge for the SEC West crown. The good news is the talent is there and although they draw Florida, Tennessee, and LSU, all 3 of those games are at Tuscaloosa.
